The imaging and exploration departments, or ancillary departments, are used in diagnosis (and sometimes in operations) for many if not all medical specialisations. In all cases they seek to provide visual information about the interior of a patient’s body (more particularly at the CCML, their heart, lungs and major arteries) using various techniques and optics.

They use cutting-edge equipment, computer, and nuclear physics technologies, and they have developed alongside industrial techniques. Imaging and exploration have progressed massively over the past thirty years and their reliability, performance, and safety means they are a very precious tool for contemporary medicine.
